    Savory Maine Dining and Provisions is pleased to exhibit the paintings of Damariscotta artist Penelope Moodey.

    The Energy of Green is part of an ongoing series of paintings on the subject of energy. Beginning in 2004, Penny began a collection of work, entitled Capturing Energy which explores how the artist sees and expresses the energy around us. She continued that search for energy with the human figure and energy of "body and soul". With the group of paintings we have on display now she has moved into exploring the energy of the natural world and environment.

    Using green as a basic color, symbolizing the environment and the protection of the natural world, Penny has tried to capture the power of space, planets, water and wind as they are caught in time.

    Penelope Moodey was born in Cincinnati, Ohio. She received a BA from Brown University in 1958 and later went on to Marywood University for a master's degree in studio art. She has been at work in her studio ever since. Penny currently lives in Damariscotta.

    The exhibit is in Savory Maine’s main dining room and will continue through April 16. Penny Moodey will have her work on display at Savory Maine, 11 Water Street, Damariscotta, There will be a reception for her on Friday, March 16 from 3-5. For more information please cal 563-2111.

    Family style suppers are on the menu for every Wednesday night at Savory Maine this winter. We’ll put the tables together and serve one hearty meal at the fixed price of fifteen dollars including tax and gratuity; eight dollars for kids under 12. Come at 6 o’clock -- alone, in pairs or in groups -- and sit together with the local foods enthusiasts you already know or will meet. A selection of organic beer and wine will be available for purchase. Let's fill this beautiful, warm space at 11 Water Street, Damariscotta, with the group spirit it is (and we are) meant for.

    Many local farms will be the source of the organically grown and grass fed ingredients for this meal. Beets from Goranson Farm, greens from Sparrow Farm and The Good Shepard's Farm, beans from the Green Thumb Farm, beef from Kelly Brothers, tofu from Heilwa, onions from Treble Ridge Farm, garlic from Harvest Moon, blueberries from Red House Farm, herb tea from Avena Botanicals, milk, cream and butter from the Moo Milk Cooperative and grains from Crown of Maine.
